O Come, Let Us Adore Him
O come,  let us adore Him,

O come,  let us adore Him,

O come,  let us adore Him,

Christ the Lord.

I love singing Christmas carols.   Don't you?  Christmas is indeed a time to worship Jesus.  Everyday is the time to worship Jesus.  "For He alone is worthy, For He alone is worthy,  For He alone is worthy, Christ the Lord."

Many of my Christmas traditions have changed over the years.....especially those food-related traditions that do not support my year-round commitment to taking care of myself.  I remember many holiday seasons in the past when I stuffed myself to the point of feeling sick.  How can I worship Christ the Lord by stuffing myself?  I can't.  Nothing about that glorifies God.

What if we focus on things that nourish our souls rather than clinging to traditions that add unwanted holiday inches & pounds and keep us stuck in destructive patterns that lead to overeating?    What if we load our music player with Christmas carols and listen to them as we walk?  What if we read the Christmas story from Luke 2 with our family?  What if we call or visit a shut-in as a way of sharing Christ's love?

I know, I know.......we love the goodies that we only see this time of year!  But wouldn't we be showing our adoration to Christ more by eating in moderation rather than stuffing ourselves?    The magi worshiped Christ by bowing before Him.  They offered Christ costly gifts.  When we make wise, healthy choices we are offering Him our obedience.  1 Samuel 15:22 says, "To obey is better than sacrifice."  When we make wise choices (tracking, choosing filling foods, portion control, exercise, etc.) we are giving God the glory and honor He deserves through our obedience,  worship and adoration.

Psalm 95:6 says "Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker."  2 Corinthians 10:31 reminds us "Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

Let's c elebrate the birth of Christ this holiday season by focusing on Him rather than focusing on food.  When we truly honor God we are starting or continuing a wonderful tradition by showing our family true worship.   Let's  choose to be controlled by the Spirit.  Let's be disciplined in the healthy food choices we make.   I guarantee you it is the right choice.

Ask God to give you the strength needed to make good choices when everyone around us is saying "eat, drink, & be merry!"  It is tough when faced with temptation to make  good choices but with God's strength we can be obedient to Him and be strong in the power of His might.   Then "We'll praise His name forever, We'll praise His name forever, We'll praise His name forever, Christ the Lord."

"We'll give Him all the glory, We'll give Him all the glory, We'll give Him all the glory, Christ the Lord."  That is what Christmas is really all about.

Merry Christmas to you & yours!

In His love,

Dana
